There has been a couple lolita art contests sponsored by Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and Alice and the Pirates, as well as a couple of #drawthisinyourstyle challenges by lolita artists. Some truly beautiful pieces have been created for these contests and challenges, and it got me in the mood to talk about lolita art in general.</p><p>One of the artists participating in both BTSSB drawing challenges is also holding a Draw This In Your Style challenge. In Instagram, their username is <a href="https://www.instagram.com/snow_priestess/?hl=en" target="">snow_priestess</a>. You can see that snow_priestess' highlights includes the DTIYS entries for the challenge so far. The deadline to turn in your entry is October 11th as <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CEuFesQKH9w/">per this post</a>. </p><p>Another artist who has started a DTIYS challenge is one of my lolita artist favorites, Lulu Van Hoagland. Lulu's art for this challenge can be found in her Instagram post <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CFFdOJqDNOR/">here</a>. Lulu's artwork is simpler and evokes a melancholy feeling. I don't think there is a particular deadline for this challenge, but you may want to do it sooner than later!</p><p>Honorable mention to the always amazing choconokecha. Her art Insta is can be found<a href="https://www.instagram.com/art_of_noke/?hl=en"> here.</a> I mentioned her in this list specifically for her entry to the BTSSB contest, which can be found on <a href="https://twitter.com/nokechar/status/1307043944539344896">her twitter.</a></p><p>I draw a bit myself, but I'm nowhere near confident enough to do commission work or participate in contests, so I've been content just drawing for fun. Here's one of my most recent pieces: </p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bjBvTSp-ISg/X2VbDaanm0I/AAAAAAAAL4Q/YBwizsJ32eo9Olxi88CJlMsSL4kGki1fgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/HoneyCakeFinished.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1583" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-bjBvTSp-ISg/X2VbDaanm0I/AAAAAAAAL4Q/YBwizsJ32eo9Olxi88CJlMsSL4kGki1fgCLcBGAsYHQ/w309-h400/HoneyCakeFinished.png" width="309" /></a></div><p></p><p>Do you like to draw? <br />
<br />
Welcome to the second installment of my Paradiso 2019 summary!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This report will be divided into two parts as well. The first half, I will be talking about Day 2's morning at the Miniature Museum, while the second half will contain my thoughts on the Tea Party in the afternoon. Let's get to it!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
Day 2 - Morning</h3>
<div>
We woke up at 6AM and were barely ready on time for our trip to the Kansas City Museum of Toys and Miniatures at 10AM. I never get up that early, so it was a bit of a challenge to get ready while being so tired. We managed to get there on time but, because we only had 10 out of 30 people, we ended up starting the tour quite late. There was so much to see, even if they only took us to see the museum highlights. I would honestly recommend saving this destination for a separate occasion --specially since I could have used the extra sleep! On account of the people's lateness, the tour felt rushed and I felt like I was missing some things. However, the museum itself was very interesting and had some beautiful displays.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My favorite part was the moving sculpture at the heart of the museum. It had hundreds of toys people in the area had donated over time.</div>

<h3>
<br />Day 2 - Afternoon</h3>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The tea party was the main event. We arrived at the Little Theater just in time to queue up. There were so many beautiful coordinates, and it was obvious that people had put their best foot forward. I was very tired, so unfortunately that colored my memory of the experience. Because I'm hard of hearing and there was a lot of echo in the venue, I had a really hard time understanding the MC and the guests answering questions in the beginning. This extended to the ouji and judge responses at the start of the pageant as well, unfortunately.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0GQLqujz9PA/XQUxZ1BjEKI/AAAAAAAAKzc/N1AfxXADdicg7KYDJ7YC6yF2JY__biZDQCLcBGAs/s1600/DSCN0189.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="300" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0GQLqujz9PA/XQUxZ1BjEKI/AAAAAAAAKzc/N1AfxXADdicg7KYDJ7YC6yF2JY__biZDQCLcBGAs/s400/DSCN0189.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Beautiful venue for beautiful people</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
The food seemed to be okay. I'm very picky with what I eat, so I didn't really enjoy it much, but I knew it was coming and that it was nobody's fault. It didn't really feel decadent, though, as the dishes were rather simple. They included fruit, some vegetables with dip, strawberries, and chia pudding, if I remember correctly. The pudding was probably the least popular, as nobody in my table really finished theirs.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Picture from Bodyline Website</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The venue was stunningly beautiful, but the caterers seemed overwhelmed with the amount of people they were serving. While most of the audience was enjoying the ouji pageant, I missed a good portion of it due to being unable to follow the conversations that reverberated off the walls. Still, all the princess wooing performances were adorable and, in some cases, hilarious. My favorite act came from Prince Lapin, the eventual crown winner. They met their bunny princess and danced to the Waltz of the Flowers together until the bell rang and the princess had to go in a hurry. It was doubly cute because both prince and princess were wearing the bodyline print 'Bunny Cinderella'.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The other performers were creative and comedic as well, and all the oujis' coords were impeccable. They sang, rapped, dropped packages, and seduced with puns from what I could tell. It was enjoyable to watch and a good distraction from the socializing that was going beforehand.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Look at all the wonderful princes and princesses!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Overall, the event was fun to attend, and it was inspiring seeing so many amazing coordinates. If you are an introvert, I would recommend going if you already know some people there. To me, it felt like people go in groups, and it was intimidating to break those small cliques to get to know people. Otherwise, it is a great event to attend and save your social and physical energy for.</div>

<br />
I am here to tell you about my time in Kansas City, Missouri as an attendee for Paradiso: Decandence.<br />
<br />
It all started in January, when my friend Denise (<a href="https://ruffleroad.com/">Ruffle Road</a>) and I decided to attend the event. We descended upon those General Admission tickets like rapacious birds of prey --by which I mean we unnecessarily waited for their release and bought them right away without knowing they'd be selling well into May.<br />
<br />
We immediately made plans for travel arrangements. A cheap, red-eye flight to make the most of Monday, a well-located Airbnb to split with a third person (who ended up being another member of our comm!), and an itinerary later, we were ready for the trip somewhere between March and April. All that was left was to wait.<br />
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I never wake up early enough to see sunrises</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<h3>
Day 0</h3>
<div>
We arrived early in the morning and visited some food places and the <a href="https://www.noirartsandoddities.com/home">Noir Oddities</a> physical storefront. They had all sorts of antique and creepy items for sale, including fragrances and pagoda umbrellas, but I wanted to save my money for the main event.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ENZ-IjaX6kY/XPm6xjbEPtI/AAAAAAAAKwg/EcPfQ6ONwjQMSaLvVMQ-0fOFNa6LaTijACLcBGAs/s1600/20190524_134146.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ENZ-IjaX6kY/XPm6xjbEPtI/AAAAAAAAKwg/EcPfQ6ONwjQMSaLvVMQ-0fOFNa6LaTijACLcBGAs/s400/20190524_134146.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Noir Oddities had some lovely display</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div>
It was also the night of the Pre-Party swap meet, where we met with the rest of our travel group that had driven nearly 7 hours to get there. The most lolitas I'd ever seen -a number that would change as the event happened throughout the days,- gathered at the designated swap space. There were brand, indie brand, offbrand, and handmade items from all styles. I was most drawn in by some oldschool skirts I was looking for for a friend, some decoden phonecases and resin jewelry someone made by hand, and Baby the Stars Shine Bright's Elizabeth OP in red. It was so cool to see that dress in person! I sold part of what I brought and got myself a black BTSSB umbrella that ended up being the night's MVP during our trip back to the Airbnb in torrential rain.</div>
<div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A comforting sign when we were lost</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<h3>
Day 1</h3>
<div>
Denise left early for the fashion show, leaving <a href="https://www.instagram.com/bat_or_sweet/">bat-or-sweets</a> and I to get ready. Bat-or-sweet had been sewing all night and through her 7 hour cardrive, but she still helped me rip some seams in my apron to make it look better, and she also sewed up my parasol! Real MVP for day one. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We made our way to Union Station around 11AM, where we got breakfast,coffee and saw the biggest group of lolitas I'd ever seen. Then, around noon, the exhibit hall opened and Paradiso began.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I was too busy furiously running from one booth to the next to take pictures of the merchandise. By the time I was done getting my haul together, it was time for the fashion show. An hour felt like enough time to shopo back then but, in retrospect, I realized I had missed several places I wanted to stop by. Fortunately, it wasn't a big loss, as my money reserves were exhausted pretty quickly.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We sat on the third row of the fashion show, which unfortunately made it difficult to see and take pictures because of all the bonnets and tall headdresses. If I had a suggestion for next year, it would be to look into raised seating. I will include some of the better pictures I took here. I unfortunately wasn't able to get good pictures of all the lines, much less particular outfits. But here is what I do have:</div>

Lastly, there were three Q&A panels with the participating designers from the fashion show. It was very interesting to learn where they drew their inspiration for and how they completed their lines for the event. After closing remarks, I met Tyler from Scarfing Scarves and took a picture with her. I was being painfully shy and she was an great sport anyway, so I'm really grateful I had the chance, even if I forgot to bring her her gift I had drawn.<br />

At the end of day one, my friends and I went to have dinner at a barbecue place and returned to the airbnb to sleep. It was a late night and an early morning into day two. But that's another story altogether --another story I will continue on part two of this report.<br />
<br />
Until next time~</div>

Heya everyone!</h2>
<div>
Currently, I am away from my lolita lair. In my absence, the me from the past has filmed and edited a video about lolita packing!<br />
<br />
I my two lolita coordinates in one large, hardcase bag with room to spare. I'm not the most efficient packer, but it was a good exercise in filming and editing. For my trip to Kansas City, Missouri, I ended up taking four pieces of lugagge: 2 checked bags, a backpack and a large totebag. I had plenty of space to spare for new purchases!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Without further ado, here's my video:</div>

<div>
Prints and fabric details steal the spotlight, calling to our aesthetic soul and driving us away from the equally important but often-overlooked supporting pieces. Blouses, jewelry, accessories, shoes. You name it; we all have an area we are blind to.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-petJAf6fnY0/XHw1y3XDXvI/AAAAAAAAKVE/IyAvbOCspv4_M_k8eCcwbclMmR0oCtACACLcBGAs/s1600/tumblr_inline_mjrzosQgde1qdlkyg.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="100" data-original-width="186" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-petJAf6fnY0/XHw1y3XDXvI/AAAAAAAAKVE/IyAvbOCspv4_M_k8eCcwbclMmR0oCtACACLcBGAs/s1600/tumblr_inline_mjrzosQgde1qdlkyg.gif" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Infatuation with main pieces is a problem that I share and, like many other lolitas before me, that led me to have a mismatched, uneven closet. The infatuation consumed a lot of time, effort, and, most importantly, money. To avoid spending on whatever crossed my path, I decided to make a wishlist. My process to do so is what I am going to share with you today.</div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The first list I created was of the dresses I wanted. By having a concrete set of prints I really wanted, it was easier to not lose track of the goal and splurge on impulse purchases. You can see that list below:</div>
<iframe height="400" src="https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTzGeQ67z3YsU8f4DGWBcnGWJ9fTfou9CCb10p7p-FFihG3qQU7LJyjp6jMEy6GyVIoZDSEpydOoQ7I/pub?embedded=true" width="100%"></iframe><br />
<br />
As you can see, I focused on the prints I wanted and what version of them I wanted them in. But this does not give me enough information about them, and what little information I have is not organized in any particular way. This isn't very efficient, and eventually led me to want and purchase similar prints that were not exactly what I wanted and that I eventually had to resell. I also focused so much on main pieces that I overlooked buying more than one blouse and a small group of accessories, which made my coordinates look too similar to each other.<br />
<br />
Don't get me wrong: listing all the dresses I wanted to keep and obtain was a crucial step in moving forward. It helped me understand what kind of colors and motifs I was attracted to so I could further build upon them with the rest of my closet items. I wanted to figure out how to cover all the holes I my wardrobe had, and this was a good start. But it wasn't enough.<br />
<br />
So how did I fix the list? First, I recognized that I needed more basics. I had a barely-functional petticoat and one pair of lolita shoes, and this lack showed in my coordinates and limited my creativity. I had to take a good look at my closet and figure out what I had, what I wanted, and what was missing. Where did I start? With my measurements.<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;"><br /></u>
1. <u style="font-weight: bold;">Take your measurements</u><br />
<div>
When purchasing lolita fashion items, measurements are key. I could want OPs and skirts all I wanted, but buying them would be a waste of money if I could never fit into them. (I'm looking at you, Emily Temple Cute >.>). So I started by taking my approximate measurements in metric and imperial units. I did conversions to Japanese sizes so I could have them on hand, and took out everything on my wishlist that would not realistically fit my body measurements. While initially a demoralizing shock, this helped me a lot in the long run by saving me money and grief.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
2. <b><u>Select your primary wardrobe colors</u></b></div>
<div>
Do you have 2-5 colors that are consistent in your desired main pieces or current wardrobe? For example, you may like the black x pastels combinations and a variety of black gothic prints, so your primary color would be black. If you check the list I provide above, a lot of the main pieces have black, brown, or pink as their main colors.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
3. <b><u>Pick out accent colors</u></b></div>
<div>
What are common colors you can find in the prints or details of your main piece? This will help you determine what color you want your supporting pieces to be so you get more varied coords. If you take a look at the dress list, I used to want dresses that had a lot of brown, red, or pink details. Getting accessories in those colors would have helped me bring out the accent colors in the print, making the coordinate more interesting to look at.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
4. <b><u>Common Motifs</u></b></div>
<div>
Does your list have a lot of flowers? Food? Architecture? Lace detailing? Is there a fabric that's recurring in your closet? Noting patterns will help you determine themes, which will in turn help you buy specific accessories that could work with more than one main piece at a time. For instance, a lot of the prints on my original list were food themed: chocolate, donuts, biscuits. We knew that brown was a main color and an accent color, so getting food themed accessories in brown would help expand my coordinating possibilities quite a bit.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
5. <b><u>Determine what you need</u></b></div>
<div>
Now that you know what colors and motifs you are working with, it's time to assess what exactly you are missing. Delve in your closet. Do you have only one or two pairs of shoes? Does the blouse you have only match certain things? What about wristcuffs and rings? You pick what accessories work best for you, but at least now you have a starting point to find them rather than jumping into a sea of products that may overwhelm you.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
6. <b><u>What do you want?</u></b></div>
<div>
After all bases are covered, we still have certain specific items we still want. Maybe it was that amazing wig you saw another lolita wearing, or a specific brand accessory that only goes with one or two things. These items are non-essential but would still be fun to have. This is the category for excess: oddly shaped purses and headwear; gorgeous skull shoulder pieces; giant golden spoon scepters, and violin-themed shoes. Ultimately, this is the true <i>wish</i>list you would splurge on.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
--</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Below is an updated wishlist --though the measurements are quite out of date. My tastes have changed quite a bit since I started, and so have my needs. If you would like, you can also see the glossary and store list I put together at the end of this list. It was originally intended for beginners or non-lolitas who wanted to buy me lolita gifts, and it's the basis of my Where to Buy Lolita page as well.</div>
<iframe height="700" src="https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRq3u8CMl5E9ry7CUZf5YwDY90WPAVBlnFDMCYgTbRZ5lmD_j_c4jDHTy_APpKqBuFfRs0jR47Jo6Kq/pub?embedded=true" width="100%"></iframe>
<br />
This is all that I have to share on the topic of making a (somewhat) cohesive wishlist. I hope you were able to learn something from it, even if it was just comparing what you do now with what another lolita does. If you have any tips on how to put together wishlists, feel free to share them with me!PanKeikohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18025386182120930771noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728277957077940260.post-10928173988149547702019-02-24T17:16:00.000-06:002019-02-24T17:16:06.159-06:00Chocolate Lover's Tea: A Valentine's meetup (Picture Heavy)Hey friends,<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It's Keiko here with a meetup review! Sorry for the late post, but I was at a meetup last weekend! My comm went to the Saint Paul Hotel in downtown Saint Paul for their Chocolate Lover's Tea special event. This is a 5-course meal tea party in honor of Valentine's Day. The venue was beautifully decadent and the elegant atmosphere was accentuated by a live piano performance throughout the event. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The Saint Paul Hotel's Valentine's teas are extremely popular each year. They hold around 5-7 events with this theme in February and they each fill up months in advance. For this meetup, we asked all attendees to reserve starting early to mid-January to make sure we got enough spots. In the end, all 9 reservations were filled and there were even more people that wanted to come!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was a good time to make conversation and enjoy the extravagance of the hotel lobby. The servers were dressed as maids or butlers, which was a neat touch, and they seemed to be from different ethnicities, races, and walks of life. This detail was important to me because seeing only Latinx and African American maids initially made me uncomfortable, given the historically racially charged implications of servitude among those groups. As a Latina myself, it made me feel like I was a European aristocrat at the cost of other people. Thankfully that wasn't the case, but I could write an essay on wanting to feel like a royalty in lolita and not wanting to fall back on the historical ramifications that would entail. Either way, I digress.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Below is a picture of my coordinate that, believe it or not, was taken at the hotel lobby bathroom. It had numerous other golden details and ornate mirrors and stalls. As lolitas, my comm could not pass the photo op up!</div>

Today I am going to spread some illustrated wisdom about how to make this Valentine's Day the best one yet. Warning: It is preferable that you are single during this process, but people with partners may also partake if they wish. Without farther ado, here we go!</div>

<h3 style="text-align: center;">
Pankeiko's Illustrated Guide to Having a great Valentine's Day</h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In today's day an age, while we are more connected to each other than ever through the online world, there is still a physical aspect that we are missing. This applies to both the people and the things we love. We often yearn for what we don't have as we look at what's out there. This brings us suffering and sadness so, instead of mourning the connections we do not have, I believe it is better to get reacquainted with what we <i>is</i> close to us --and what better day to do it than on the day of love!</div>
<div>
So do a little self-care, hang out with friends, or do what any sensible lolita would do: turn to your wardrobe. Your most prized pieces are probably in need of a little extra care anyway, so why not make them and yourself happy in that special occasion?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
1. Give your pieces a good wash.</h4>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4PJRH2dt3do/XF79d1YlIAI/AAAAAAAAKJc/AGLwSRFuVsM_xFm5cyDrhSBpb2p6pJiHACLcBGAs/s1600/20190209_094442.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4PJRH2dt3do/XF79d1YlIAI/AAAAAAAAKJc/AGLwSRFuVsM_xFm5cyDrhSBpb2p6pJiHACLcBGAs/s320/20190209_094442.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
Whether you trust the local dry cleaners, or are brave enough to do your own lolita laundry, this step is essential. Making sure that your clothes are clean is the first step of having a happy wardrobe. They will feel fresh and closer to new, and the individual attention you give them will make you fall in love all over again.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Make sure that you do some research before tossing your precious prints in the washer. I suggest familiarizing yourself with the Japanese laundry symbols and think of the specific materials your pieces are made of and how they wash individually.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
2. Lint roll your pieces and check for damages</h4>
<div>
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gsyx6i9Ck5w/XF8AFQCBPmI/AAAAAAAAKJo/PDbUqR2kjsc23dLmiKanipZulGdT9n3lQCLcBGAs/s1600/20190209_094509.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1514" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gsyx6i9Ck5w/XF8AFQCBPmI/AAAAAAAAKJo/PDbUqR2kjsc23dLmiKanipZulGdT9n3lQCLcBGAs/s320/20190209_094509.jpg" width="300" /></a>This step helps you familiarize yourself yourself with your clothing in a more tactile way. You will need to carefully inspect each item with care to make sure there are no snags or loose threads. Any pet hair must be disposed of with a lint roller to return the piece to its best self. I would recommend doing this while watching a movie. It will be soothing for both of you and will enhance your bonding experience.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Bonus points if you sew buttons back on, adjust bows, or run your hands over the lace to appreciate its quality. Pro-Tip: Checking out the print for any running colors will also give you the chance to appreciate its artistry and find little things you hadn't noticed before.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
3. Admire your pieces</h4>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JYwg0gA9TKI/XF8DslVLXhI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/YpUXz29ZnEYTXRSg8WHx0HISzY-ndiAPwCLcBGAs/s1600/20190209_094550.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1237" data-original-width="1600" height="247" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JYwg0gA9TKI/XF8DslVLXhI/AAAAAAAAKJ0/YpUXz29ZnEYTXRSg8WHx0HISzY-ndiAPwCLcBGAs/s320/20190209_094550.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
After all the hard work and bonding time, you should take a step back to take in the fruits of your labor. Now your lolita items are clean, lint-rolled, and glowing with love. Our first instinct would be to put them back in the safety of our wardrobe, yet how would it make you feel being shoved into a closet after a strenuous makeover? All that work to look your best, for what? These kind of negative feelings will not stand. Instead, why not admire each item individually --or better yet, why not try putting together a coordinate to see how each individual part comes together to create your own unique combinations? Whether it's a floordinate in an instagram post, a picture for a future wardrobe post, or just displaying them on your mannequin (provided you have one) will allow for more time to appreciate your lolita closet. If you want to increase your love output, I recommend that you follow best way to show your clothes you love them: wear them.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4>
4. Take the next step</h4>
<div>
So now you have cleaned, pressed, and displayed your clothes. You may even have gone through with wearing them somewhere. What next? It depends on how comfortable you are in them and how far along you are in your relationship. I'd recommend picking a memorable place to go. Maybe a park or a nice cafe. Depending on what you like, it can be crowded or a more secluded area. Then wait for the perfect moment. It can be the way your petticoat puffs up when you sit down, or the sound of the fabrics as you move. It's up to you to determine when you are ready. Just don't forget to get a matching ring to cement your relationship and expand your options for coordinates ;).</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ofcTHbBzNFU/XF8FLjmiBoI/AAAAAAAAKKA/OAMcb6fgCdwsmDR4JWqH8Z9vhbUJlYU-wCLcBGAs/s1600/20190209_094607.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1447" data-original-width="1600" height="289" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ofcTHbBzNFU/XF8FLjmiBoI/AAAAAAAAKKA/OAMcb6fgCdwsmDR4JWqH8Z9vhbUJlYU-wCLcBGAs/s320/20190209_094607.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>

That's all she wrote, folks! I hope you liked this little guide for the pursuit of happiness on an arbitrary commercial holiday that can affect some people negatively. I wanted to make something that would cheer up those who are not having a good time this week, so I put a little extra effort by sketching some images. So please let me know what you think in the comments!</div>

<div style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Hey there~</div>
<div>
It's-a me, Keiko! I have returned with another blog post (two in a row? Really?). This time, I have made a coordinate inspired by upcoming Valentine's Day celebrations.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
Kuma Kumya's Royal Kingdom Valentine's Coordinate</h4>
<div>
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I don't feel like this coordinate is fully finished. I am missing something red at the top with the crown for it to be well-balanced. I tried adding the ribbons, but they are not the same shade of red as the rest of the outfit. My second pick is to use the detachable middle bow of the JSK as a hairbow on a wig. A long blond or milk tea wig would go well with this princessy outfit.<br /><br />I don't really have a lot more to coordinate this JSK with, as I bought it only because I liked the print. It really stands out in my wardrobe as the only piece of its color combination. I think pairing it with brown accessories or more golden ones would be an easy way to go. I really need more red accessories, as it is a common 'pop' color in my wardrobe.<br /><br />How would you coord this piece? I'd love to hear your ideas!</div>

What's on my Mannequin?</h3>
<div>
I put together a coordinate on my dress form for the first time in four months or more. What does this mean for the blog? It means that, after what feels like a million years, I've finally posted a What's on my Mannequin entry!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To celebrate my return and the month of January, I picked my favorite dress of all time: Honey Cake!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tuIVRfIuzNo/XE4xtd-bVTI/AAAAAAAAI6Y/SNocJ7RMLK0Y3T264DccqAB61McvaX5wgCLcBGAs/s1600/ap26.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="360" data-original-width="700" height="205" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-tuIVRfIuzNo/XE4xtd-bVTI/AAAAAAAAI6Y/SNocJ7RMLK0Y3T264DccqAB61McvaX5wgCLcBGAs/s400/ap26.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
Here is what I put together:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DHH-z_44nT8/XE5kWUWyu1I/AAAAAAAAI60/VqHA4eh-tTYJSrpxmpKn7pv_wzGLy_u9QCLcBGAs/s1600/20190127_161555copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="789" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-DHH-z_44nT8/XE5kWUWyu1I/AAAAAAAAI60/VqHA4eh-tTYJSrpxmpKn7pv_wzGLy_u9QCLcBGAs/s640/20190127_161555copy.jpg" width="313" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
As you can probably see, I could not pick between integrating brown or red. So I did both! I got the parka off egl_comm_sales when I first started wearing lolita and only had the honey cake skirt. It was sold off to me by a lolita in Malaysia and took a long time to find me. It almost got lost in the mail! You can't really, but it has a bear-ear hoodie with an inside polka dot pattern in white and red. The collar shown is actually a red blouse with the same polka dot pattern underneath.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VTcPmYNds2E/XE5kYMgqdEI/AAAAAAAAI7I/6DmcdAMB_xMGw4oIZSYJgBNF-wMfDLF5ACEwYBhgL/s1600/20190127_161623.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VTcPmYNds2E/XE5kYMgqdEI/AAAAAAAAI7I/6DmcdAMB_xMGw4oIZSYJgBNF-wMfDLF5ACEwYBhgL/s400/20190127_161623.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The beret is the Princess Drop beret from Baby, The Stars Shine Bright. I got it on the New York site and it was the last one in that color! I felt super lucky. The cherries clip is from a taobao store, and the necklace is from a seller from etsy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-udBfk2VPays/XE5kYPXK3xI/AAAAAAAAI7M/sLmuxA5o18YwfxDd4E4W6OEeW_-A5Cv2gCEwYBhgL/s1600/20190127_161614.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-udBfk2VPays/XE5kYPXK3xI/AAAAAAAAI7M/sLmuxA5o18YwfxDd4E4W6OEeW_-A5Cv2gCEwYBhgL/s400/20190127_161614.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This Rilakkuma bag I got on Lacemarket. It was pretty cheap, so the quality is not so good. I decided to incorporated anyways because I love Rilakkuma and I was partly recreating one of my first coordinates with Honey Cake. I had worn the skirt, the top, and this bag, to my first US convention after I moved here. It has a nostalgic feel to it, but I think I will retire this bag to daily wear soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-blY0cq-EeoQ/XE5kYeY6pTI/AAAAAAAAI7Q/1nIUCyQUdOUWWJ8TQhN9wYXUT3mbPJDxACEwYBhgL/s1600/20190127_161632.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1200" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-blY0cq-EeoQ/XE5kYeY6pTI/AAAAAAAAI7Q/1nIUCyQUdOUWWJ8TQhN9wYXUT3mbPJDxACEwYBhgL/s400/20190127_161632.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is a close up of the pancake necklace. I really want a red and white gingham blouse to match the tiny ribbon. Pancakes are some of my favorite food, if you didn't already know. That's where the name of the blog came from!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
----</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That's all I have for you today, my people. I have been laying in bed sick for the past two days but finally kicked my butt in gear to prepare for the week and do this post. I hope you are all doing well and that your week treats you kindly. See you next weekend!</div>

<div>
I was watching Lovely Lor's video <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhFAtcV9UEA" style="font-style: italic;">What Influenced My Style?</a>, and it got me thinking about where I get inspiration from --and who I think of when I try to picture what I want my ideal coordinates to look like. Though I had not consciously thought about it in a while, I was able to come up with a list pretty fast. There are just some lolitas that really left an impression of me. Here are my top 5 style influencers in no particular order:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
5. <a href="http://lostlillith.tumblr.com/">Miss Lillith</a> - Miss Lillith is a video game design student who loves otome games- a genre she is planning to add on with her own game. She no longer wears lolita often but, when she did, she wore gothic with a somewhat sweet touch. 4. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mariedauphine/?hl=en">Marie Dauphine</a> - Speaking of gothic, Marie Dauphine is a gothic <i>queen</i>. She seems to be inspired by historical mourning wear, and blends her interest in taxidermy and the natural world with lolita. Her impeccable taste and ability to put together coordinates with different kinds of textures simply blows me away.</div>

1. <a href="http://milkyfawn.blogspot.com/">Milkyfawn</a>: This lolita has been gone from the fashion for quite some time. She starred in several of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNrvBWwVd5OPuzJPY0bzpcA">Deerstalker Pictures 2</a>'s videos, and garnered a lot of unwanted attention. As a result, she moved on elsewhere on her fashion journey. It is difficult for me to explain why I like Milkyfawn's style. It is not that I like specific coordinates, or that her blog hits Rilakkuma, chocolate, and pancakes --all of which I love. I believe that I am mostly a fan of the <i>feeling</i> that her coordinates evoke in me. </div>

I was fairly new to lolita when Deerstalker Pictures' videos were coming out, but I remember distinctly seeing how she behaved like a person in lolita as opposed to a perfect doll. She was depicted as unapologetically surrounded by what she loved, and I admire both that and her vast collection at the time. I also remember being quite sad when she left the fashion, but I am grateful she left up her old blog for coord inspiration and a trip down memory lane. While today I find some of her coordinates to be simple, I feel nostalgia for that simplicity. It was simplicity found not only in her coordinates but in my outlook of lolita in general. But more on that on another time. For now, I will leave you some questions:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Who or what do you draw inspiration from? </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
What about them is special for you?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Thank you all for sticking around, and hopefully I'll see you all soon ^^!</div>

<br /></div>
I am back from the Windy City and ready for some blogging action. It was a busy weekend full of panels, shopping, and even a tea party!<br />
<br />
On the first day, I met Misako Aoki, the Japanese Lolita Ambassador. As expected, I was out-kawaii'd by her. My impression of her was that she was definitely down-to-business. She kept her cute persona on the whole con quite well, and seemed to measure her words carefully at the Q&A session. As expected of a carefully preened model~<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W_W_uRwb1us/WWmI-A5o1pI/AAAAAAAACDk/RNgQQ359l9I6pr_sMPMihAWMzfhZkmxMwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG_20170707_172455_342.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-W_W_uRwb1us/WWmI-A5o1pI/AAAAAAAACDk/RNgQQ359l9I6pr_sMPMihAWMzfhZkmxMwCLcBGAs/s320/IMG_20170707_172455_342.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
While she is not my favorite model for several reasons, it was still cool to meet her in person rather than see her in a postcard. I even got her to sign some of the merchandise I got at her signing session!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mqVgSZ2xMS0/WWmLQYio5uI/AAAAAAAACDw/qaSZjDWFYG4htu4wgyqZB4X6O7BMqXoFwCLcBGAs/s1600/IMG-20170712-WA0013.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mqVgSZ2xMS0/WWmLQYio5uI/AAAAAAAACDw/qaSZjDWFYG4htu4wgyqZB4X6O7BMqXoFwCLcBGAs/s400/IMG-20170712-WA0013.jpeg" width="225" /></a><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eAtwb8_EaMo/WWmLQr1BbLI/AAAAAAAACD0/SjdYJhM8F-cUXHH3GnqqagfmRMaynYHUACLcBGAs/s1600/IMG-20170712-WA0011.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="900" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eAtwb8_EaMo/WWmLQr1BbLI/AAAAAAAACD0/SjdYJhM8F-cUXHH3GnqqagfmRMaynYHUACLcBGAs/s400/IMG-20170712-WA0011.jpeg" width="225" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
During the Q&A session, I got the opportunity to ask her what her favorite dress was. She said it was probably <i>My Favorite Ribbon</i> in pink, which did not surprise me, since she helped design it herself. Additionally, I got to ask her whether or not she would be participating in the new release of <i>Melt</i>. Regrettably, the answer was no. She is already tied up with <i>Kera</i>, so we won't be seeing her in the new Mook.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
On the first night, Ladybeard and Reika performed as the dynamic duo <i>Deadlift Lolita</i>. It had 'lolita' in it so, naturally, I had to check it out! I was happy to find that their songs suit my tastes --think the tough-cute balance of <i>Babymetal</i>. I had seen some of Ladybeard's previous work peripherally before, and I made sure to check <i>Deadlift Lolita</i> songs out beforehand to make sure I knew I was getting into, but watching them perform live was extra fun. They had a wrestling match in the middle of the concert! Unfortunately, none of the pictures or footage I took were good enough to post. But I have a polaroid I took with them at their signing session the next day~</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Cute and tough make a great combination!</td></tr>

<div style="text-align: left;">
The second day was also when the fashion show took place. Unfortunately, only one of the two designers could make it. The prints were interesting, but not really my style, so I skipped buying anything lolita-related. Still, it must have been cool to have Misako model for them as an indie brand designer.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The designer answered some questions at the end and, though they tried their best, I couldn't help but feel a bit underwhelmed by the fashion show as a whole. The second designer was sorely missed, but perhaps next year they will have better luck.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The last day was reserved for the tea party. It had been one of my yearly goals to attend a lolita event of that nature, so I was naturally quite excited.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Contrary to popular belief, I am not dead. I haven't been feeling well these past few months, so I was not up to updating the blog often. I even considered leaving lolita in general. But now I'm back with renewed appreciation for this crazy fashion, even though I cannot wear it as much as I used to.<br />
<br />

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="text-decoration-line: underline;"><br /></span></div>
<b><u>What does this mean for the blog?</u></b></h3>
- I'll probably keep doing prompts, just not pushing myself to do them in any particular order so it doesn't feel like a chore.<br />
<br />
- Now that my mannequin is no longer broken, I can actually upload monthly 'What's on my Mannequin' posts<br />
<br />
- I will cover some recent purchases I've done<br />
<br />
- I'm actually going to my first convention tea party soon, so I can talk about prepping for and attending to that as well.<br />
<br />
- I have some other events on the horizon as well, so expect a bit of of posting related to those<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
--</div>
That is all I have for now. Please let me know if you have anything you'd like to see more of in the blog. I'd be happy to get and respond to recommendations!<br />

Sorry for the late post again. Work makes it hard for me to find motivation to write orz.<br />
<br />
Anyway, this is Keiko here with another installment of the 52 Weeks of Lolita challenge. This time around I will talk about my first-ever meetup!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pCcCdlG1Fs8/WPy67GSepYI/AAAAAAAACCE/KbpAglJBcdk5lJvIk9GKgSAhBFKVrh5iACLcB/s1600/tumblr_mec3ykjl5O1qdlkyg.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pCcCdlG1Fs8/WPy67GSepYI/AAAAAAAACCE/KbpAglJBcdk5lJvIk9GKgSAhBFKVrh5iACLcB/s1600/tumblr_mec3ykjl5O1qdlkyg.gif" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
My first meetup was actually a swap meet. I was in Washington D.C. doing a 'semester abroad' at the time, and I had just gotten in contact with the local lolita community. I was at a loss of what to wear. I'd never seen other lolitas around before, and I felt a bit intimidated. Would they judge my outfit? Would they be too busy catching up to include me in the group? I remember being super nervous!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
In the end, I decided to bring a 'wow' piece with me to the meetup. I settled for Honey Cake, bringing also with me the rare pancake mix bag for extra points. I unfortunately didn't take many pictures, even though it is one of my favorite coordinates so far. Here's one of the few I did manage to take:</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O_zdrOpm3Yg/WPy8a8i0hRI/AAAAAAAACCQ/9pQrbd2v2gIl5LJn2FTYvbtp3IrUuyjrgCLcB/s1600/IMG_20151017_110045549_HDR.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O_zdrOpm3Yg/WPy8a8i0hRI/AAAAAAAACCQ/9pQrbd2v2gIl5LJn2FTYvbtp3IrUuyjrgCLcB/s640/IMG_20151017_110045549_HDR.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Excuse the mess. I was sharing a tiny dorm room with two other girls.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I took the metro (subway) for about an hour to get to the station closest to the host's home, all the while nervous of going so far away in an unknown city by myself. Fortunately, it all worked out and I was able to get there unscathed. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The meetup itself went very successfully. All the lolitas were quite talkative and friendly, including me into their group almost immediately. We had sweets, talked about the fashion, and admired each other's coordinates before setting up shop for the swapping part of the meet. We then went outside to set up our wares on blankets in the yard under the pleasant D.C. weather, and the trading and buying began.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I remember selling quite a few things because I needed the money, but not really buying anything myself. It's been almost a year since that happened, so my memory is a bit hazy. But that's all the important details, anyway :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Have you ever been to a meetup? What was your first meetup like? Were you nervous? Feel free to share your story below!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
It's Keiko here with a double feature post since I missed last week's entry. It was for good reason, I promise ;)!<br />
<br />
Today's entry I will tell you about the lolitas I'd love to meet in person and talk to you about three pieces of advice I wish I'd been told when I first got into lolita. Without further ado, let's get this started!<br />
<br />
<h3>
Lolitas I'd Love to Meet</h3>
There are so many lolitas I'd love to meet in person! However, I managed to narrow it down to five lolitas who were not brand models (Misako, Midori, RinRin, etc)<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.instagram.com/choconokecha/?hl=en">Nokecha</a> - Finnish Lolita whose sweet style is an inspiration for me. I looooove her princess coordinates and use of color.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.instagram.com/vysanthe/?hl=en">Vysanthe</a> - Australian Lolita behind Deerstalker Pictures. Not only is her classic style gorgeous, but I think it would be really interesting to talk to her about cinematography and the ups and downs of documenting and entertaining the lolita community worldwide.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.instagram.com/lemontreee11/?hl=en">Lemontree11</a> - Lolita from the U.S. I love her art and wish I could keep a journal like her. Her coordinates have this fluffy air to them.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.instagram.com/mariedauphine/?hl=en">Marie Dauphine</a> - Gothic lolita from the United States. One of the few people who I think pull of OTT gothic flawlessly every time. She's also a taxidermist!<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.instagram.com/yannmmm/?hl=en">Melva Yan</a> - A sweet lolita living in Sweden. Amazing outfits --I follow her <a href="http://lookbook.nu/yannmmm">lookbook</a>!<br />
<br />
There are, of course, may other talented lolitas whom I'd love to make their acquaintance. However, the list would go on and on if I did not set my foot down on just five :)<br />
<br />
On to the next topic!<br />
<br />
<h3>
Three things I wish I was told when I started Lolita</h3>
When I first got into lolita, I made sure to research the fashion and read as much as I could in order to not look like an ita. At the time, there were many posts online complaining about people who did not take the time to read up on the styles and just jumped in without the nuanced knowledge on how to put together a coordinate. Even though I tried my best to inform myself, are just some things that don't get said enough or even at all. The following are three pieces of advice I wish had been emphasized more.<br />
<br />
1. <b><u>Don't buy things just because they are cheap</u></b> - Cheap does not necessarily mean good quality. In fact it's often the opposite. Even if you get lucky, however, blindly buying cheap quality things does not mean that your wardrobe will be cohesive. I ran into this issue when I bought items I thought I liked due to price and ended up not being able to coordinate them together.<br />
<br />
2. <b><u>Make sure to buy all the basics first</u></b> - I ran ahead and bought multiple dresses without ensuring I had blouses, shoes, or even a petticoat! It is easy to get seduced by the novelty and excitement of main pieces, but it's super important that all the basics are covered before you buy main pieces so that you can actually wear them.<br />
<br />
3. <b><u>Learn how to use Japanese secondhand sites and Taobao</u></b> - I wish I'd heard about this more. Though I became acquainted with mbok fairly early, I wish I'd know more about Mercari, Fril., Yahoo Auctions, etc. I'm still in the process of learning more about Taobao, but I feel like beginners can have better luck looking for cheaper dresses on Taobao and get more of a bang for their buck that way.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-URLBnpYn92M/WPD605mwK3I/AAAAAAAACBs/mYvdfxHIFzYkbP_DocV8mAqorD27ZmHjQCLcB/s1600/tumblr_ln693fZhmT1qdlkyg.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="27" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-URLBnpYn92M/WPD605mwK3I/AAAAAAAACBs/mYvdfxHIFzYkbP_DocV8mAqorD27ZmHjQCLcB/s320/tumblr_ln693fZhmT1qdlkyg.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That is all I have for you today, friends! Please feel free to leave a comment below on who you'd like to meet in person or any pieces of advice you may have for lolita newbies.</div>

Keiko here with another installment of 52 weeks of lolita!<br />
<br />
Today's topic is talking about Lolitas I've met outside of the internet.<br />
<br />
Naturally, I thought I'd start with some of the basic ones: Misako, Midori, Asuka, and Mana-sama.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C0yckUoBA3k/WN8xTcP4PJI/AAAAAAAACBI/yKtwUZGEJ8wF478RGzCMunCbNFZMN0H_QCLcB/s1600/manasama.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C0yckUoBA3k/WN8xTcP4PJI/AAAAAAAACBI/yKtwUZGEJ8wF478RGzCMunCbNFZMN0H_QCLcB/s400/manasama.jpg" width="291" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Just Kidding!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Happy April's fool day, friends!<br />
<br />
The only lolitas I've really met offline are from comms in the areas I've been in. I had the opportunity to meet some D.C. lolitas when I was there for a semester, and I'm acquainted with part of the <a href="https://www.facebook.com/groups/mnrufflebutts/">Minnesota Rufflebutts</a> community.<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, I don't really have any pictures, so all you get is a lazy blogpost ;)<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
Have you met any famous lolitas? Or have you run into lolitas from other comms? Please feel free to share, and have a great April's Fool's day!</div>

It's Keiko here~<br />
<br />
It is time for another (on time) installment of 52 weeks of lolita. The topic for this week is my top three lolita trends I wish would make a comeback. Without further ado, let's get to them!<br />
<h3>
1. OTT Sweet</h3>
<h3>
<span style="font-size: small;"><span style="font-weight: normal;">Like many other people online, I miss the 2009-2012 golden age of sweet. It's funny that I would, since it is not a style that I would normally wear, but I really enjoy seeing those kind of fluffy, pastel carousel, cupcake ensembles. I feel like its replacement, OTT classic, just does not have the same whimsicality. This was cemented for me by the Omnia Varitas OTT Classic and OTT Gothic outfits. They were extremely gorgeous, but I did not feel the same spark of excitement as I do when I see OTT sweet.</span></span></h3>
<h3>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-phWWv1bNtp8/WNZ6o6GyeaI/AAAAAAAAB9o/ux14uci575c_UfHLCS3p1C3IzqhXU5l4QCLcB/s1600/tumblr_ngj2qovNph1qmd8two1_1280.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-phWWv1bNtp8/WNZ6o6GyeaI/AAAAAAAAB9o/ux14uci575c_UfHLCS3p1C3IzqhXU5l4QCLcB/s640/tumblr_ngj2qovNph1qmd8two1_1280.jpg" width="474" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image from MintyFrills' <a href="http://mintyfrills.tumblr.com/">tumblr</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
2. Scepters</h3>
I remember one convention --I think it was Anime Matsuri before its true nature came out,-- in which a bunch of lolitas had very intricate scepters with glass detailing. I don't know if they were made with curtain rods, but they looked high quality. They were so beautiful and complemented their coordinates so well I fell in love with the idea of scepters since then. That was the year that everone and their mom made scepters, though, so people got tired of them real quick. I, for one, still think they can really bring 'oomph' to an outfit, but I tend to like the more extravagant ones with glass tears, crystal balls, and the like.<br />
<h3>
3. Casual Lolita</h3>
<div>
It's funny that I'd miss this trend when the first two trends I mentioned are explicitly over the top, but I feel like we need to come to an agreement over what casual lolita is and is not. I have seen so many people post their outfits of full coordinates with basic, but well-rounded accessories and say that they are wearing casual lolita. Of course, casual lolita <i>is</i> a full coordinate, but I think the line has been blurred between it and normal coordinates because we look at OTT as the standard.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ufiVVyqTkUI/WNZ7WfTlBXI/AAAAAAAAB9w/vppHxfENxzQLT69c6n42hEJeW_PqKsVOgCLcB/s1600/tumblr_omtkbezhdH1tj9v1jo1_500.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ufiVVyqTkUI/WNZ7WfTlBXI/AAAAAAAAB9w/vppHxfENxzQLT69c6n42hEJeW_PqKsVOgCLcB/s640/tumblr_omtkbezhdH1tj9v1jo1_500.jpg" width="360" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Image from queranruffles' <a href="http://queranruffles.tumblr.com/post/158403459671">tumblr</a></td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
--</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
How about you? What kind of trends do you wish came back to fashion? Do you follow them anyway, even if they're out of style?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<br />
Keiko here with a<span style="font-size: x-small; text-decoration: line-through;">nother</span> late post!<br />
<br />
Today's topic is combining fashions.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CJSrEX4oKJE/WM6fnfZ4fGI/AAAAAAAAB8M/wU1u-VB8OQEa1DAXnETdUKBSNoEkeX3CgCLcB/s1600/tumblr_meh851ZxWG1qdlkyg.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CJSrEX4oKJE/WM6fnfZ4fGI/AAAAAAAAB8M/wU1u-VB8OQEa1DAXnETdUKBSNoEkeX3CgCLcB/s1600/tumblr_meh851ZxWG1qdlkyg.gif" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I don't really combine other fashions with lolita, but I've seen some good combinations of morikei, decora, and fairykei with it. I also enjoy outfits that lie between otome and lolita, since the they tend to be colorful and quirky. However, I don't feel like I have a good enough sense of color and fashion to be able to pull it off, but I really love to see them in other people.<br />
<br />
Originally, I wanted to combine creepy cute with lolita, which I realize now is a bit overdone for my taste and hard to do correctly. I admire people that do it, but I don't think I could quite pull it off.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oAImTtVHeRA/WM6h0NVlzFI/AAAAAAAAB8Y/mQ50gtVJ7XU71DWB5tr4YuO_bU2d7o9TQCLcB/s1600/20150321_200345.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oAImTtVHeRA/WM6h0NVlzFI/AAAAAAAAB8Y/mQ50gtVJ7XU71DWB5tr4YuO_bU2d7o9TQCLcB/s640/20150321_200345.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">One of my oldest attempts at a coordinate, with decora-like elements</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Yh_c0Z_MZqs/WM6iRDXbCcI/AAAAAAAAB8g/JFt-n7Mitf4YGLv0tHoGprZpPZE18ZWXwCEw/s1600/20150321_203146.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Yh_c0Z_MZqs/WM6iRDXbCcI/AAAAAAAAB8g/JFt-n7Mitf4YGLv0tHoGprZpPZE18ZWXwCEw/s640/20150321_203146.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Again, trying to be "decora" by piling on as many accessories as I had. Unsuccessfully (lol)</td></tr>
</tbody></table>

I'm sorry I missed the post last week. I got sick and didn't really feel like writing anything. But that means that today we get a double feature post to make up for it!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Today's topics are: <i style="font-weight: bold;">How I found out about Lolita</i> and <b><i>5 Keywords that describe my Style</i></b><br />
<b><i><br /></i></b>
Without further ado, let's begin!<br />
<h3>
How I first found out about Lolita Fashion</h3>
<div>
I stumbled upon lolita fashion via anime. I used to watch <i>Rozen Maiden</i> when I was younger, around the early 2000s and such, and recall loving the outfits of the characters in the series.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h4CjfqaYGXk/WMQSf2_EdrI/AAAAAAAAB64/7yaRJc7EMxcF82ENQDtiryKnZ8xajiwnQCLcB/s1600/10242.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h4CjfqaYGXk/WMQSf2_EdrI/AAAAAAAAB64/7yaRJc7EMxcF82ENQDtiryKnZ8xajiwnQCLcB/s400/10242.jpg" width="277" /></a></div>
<div>
I would often google "Rozen Maiden Clothes" or "Rozen Maiden Outfits" and, somehow, those search terms led me to lolita fashion. I did not know what it was at first, since I had only pictures to go by, but soon I learned about the Gaia community and, though I never joined, I lurked fashion forums looking for more pictures. Eventually, I got to Livejournal and realized how expensive the clothes were. As a teenager in a third world country with a terrible economy and worsening political climate, Lolita became an impossible dream. I renounced it, unable to even look from afar and disillusion myself.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It was when I moved to the United States for college--nearly ten years later,-- that I took the plunge into the fashion. In the end, I was happy to find out that there was even a <i>Rozen Maiden</i> Innocent World collection! Maybe I'll purchase Shinku's set if I see it around someday...</div>

5 Keywords that Describe My Style</h3>
This year will soon be three years since I first purchased a lolita dress. How fast time flies! I can also confidently say my lolita style has changed since that first purchase of the Milky Planet black OP. Where I used to want to follow 2010-2012 sweet OTT trends and mix them in with 'bittersweet' and creepy cute aesthetics, now I want to my <u>prints</u> of <u>mixed</u> styles to be <u>comfortable</u> and <u>wearable</u> in those rare<u> occasions</u> I wear them. As you might have guessed, my keywords are as follows:<br />
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Prints:</u> One thing that has not changed from the moment I entered the world of lolita is my love for prints. I hate them in normal clothing, but I feel like in lolita they make outfits so interesting and fun to look at. I tend to like certain designs and hunt them down until they are in my wardrobe --so much so that I only have one dress left on my wishlist!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QvY2K0DdUkE/WMQapD6uqvI/AAAAAAAAB7c/MwvaMGgn8CUzTmHVeV2OUD0ET7CjvgyBgCLcB/s1600/d6d0156f8b582fe8e3b56af4a6571ead.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="230" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-QvY2K0DdUkE/WMQapD6uqvI/AAAAAAAAB7c/MwvaMGgn8CUzTmHVeV2OUD0ET7CjvgyBgCLcB/s320/d6d0156f8b582fe8e3b56af4a6571ead.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Mixed:</u> I use the word mixed to represent the fact that, while I'm primarily a sweet lolita, I wear coordinates from all three main lolita styles. I enjoy a versatile piece as much as the next person, and this is reflected in my wardrobe. I tend to like pieces I can dress up or wear simply to let the print speak. As my lolita aesthetic evolves, I wonder if I'll get more pieces to mix and match the three main lolita styles even more than now.<br />
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Comfortable:</u> While I tend to forgo this aspect of wearing clothes every so often, I have found that I prefer my main pieces to not be hard to wear for extended periods of time. Tightness and uncomfortableness make lolita less fun for me, even if it looks beautiful,<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Wearable:</u> Because I don't have much occasion to wear lolita, I try to make my coordinates go more towards the casual side. That way I can wear them to simpler outings that are not necessarily special occasions. This is the polar opposite of what I originally wanted to do when I entered the fashion!<br />
<br />
<u style="font-weight: bold;">Occasion-driven:</u> I unfortunately don't go out much in general. I work full time now at a place with a business casual dress code, so I can't wear lolita to work either. As a result, I have depended on meetups and special outings with friends to wear lolita at all, much less dress it up with special themes and the like. I particularly enjoy themed meetups when I am able to match the suggested topic. It's fun to rise up to the challenge on those rare times!<br />
<br />

<br />
It's Keiko here!<br />
<br />
I'm sorry that I'm late with this blogpost. I just got a new job and it's eating up all of my time orz. But enough of that, let's get to the meat of the post! Today's topic is:<br />
<h3>
Why don't you wear lolita more often?</h3>
<div>
The answer here varies a bit. To start with, I don't really have occasion to wear the fashion often. Meetups in my comm are spaced out and I cannot always go to all of them, so I miss some opportunities to dress up once in a while.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Secondly, I've gained some weight after my wedding rather than losing it as I was trying to do. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E_N-msT3Y9U/WLL3pMrg0yI/AAAAAAAABa0/pZL3DJgIpOgaYhdv0voBm803d-4pglK8gCLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mnt5zacry11qz4rgp.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-E_N-msT3Y9U/WLL3pMrg0yI/AAAAAAAABa0/pZL3DJgIpOgaYhdv0voBm803d-4pglK8gCLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mnt5zacry11qz4rgp.gif" /></a></div>
</div>
This unfortunately means that my bust measurement increased enough that I don't fit in a good number of my pieces. Oddly enough everywhere else fits fine :/... With this limitation has come a loss of confidence.<br />
<br />
<b><u>Real talk (depression trigger warning)</u></b>: I struggle with body image and suffer from depression and generalized anxiety so it's already a fight to convince myself of something positive. When I add this to the fact that something that used to bring me so much joy might no longer be for me no matter how much I try to lose weight, I can't help but feel discouraged.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mrheikh0wpI/WLL60XXfgWI/AAAAAAAABbE/M3ElCFvz1w4wa1tcJe5WAEhB8JBV5WoDACLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mpl2ybpvaJ1qz4rgp.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mrheikh0wpI/WLL60XXfgWI/AAAAAAAABbE/M3ElCFvz1w4wa1tcJe5WAEhB8JBV5WoDACLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mpl2ybpvaJ1qz4rgp.gif" /></a></div>
I've thought of abandoning lolita altogether because sometimes I feel I can't do it justice at all and my dresses deserve a better owner. This train of thought has prevented me from wearing the fashion more than once and is currently my biggest obstacle to wearing it and documenting it. <b><u>(Trigger warning over)</u></b><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
--</div>
I'm sure there are other lolitas who feel discouraged or uninspired once in a while. What kinds of things usually stump your lolita life? How do you deal with them? Do you have strategies to get a second wind?PanKeikohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/18025386182120930771noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4728277957077940260.post-35050180427963868472017-02-18T15:00:00.000-06:002017-02-18T15:00:03.996-06:0052 Weeks of Lolita - Why I wear LolitaHey everyone!<br />
<br />
It's Keiko here with another 52 weeks of lolita prompt~<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
This week's topic is to talk about why I wear lolita. The short answer? I want to be cute!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfwmSGtOFWI/WKiJKSjwgPI/AAAAAAAABaY/Ww2BLn3Ouac9dUeuiM2Y-AunT8TuIuLNACLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mg63lvKMMz1qdlkyg.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZfwmSGtOFWI/WKiJKSjwgPI/AAAAAAAABaY/Ww2BLn3Ouac9dUeuiM2Y-AunT8TuIuLNACLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mg63lvKMMz1qdlkyg.gif" /></a></div>
But there are other reasons why I'm attracted to this luxury kawaii fashion as opposed to dolly-kei, fairy-kei, mori-kei or any other style. Here are some of the other reasons why I wear lolita:<br />
<br />
<b><u>1. The aesthetic and the creativity in it:</u></b> The lolita silhouette can range from cupcake-cute to extremely elegant or even mysterious depending on the style and coordinate. It has variability, even in its uniformity because people's creativity allow it to transform.<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">2.</span><u style="font-weight: bold;"> I can be hyper-feminine without being oversexualized:</u> Being a hourglass shape in an sexist culture is quite annoying. Men whistled at me, and sometimes people nosily would bug me to 'dress my shape' so I'd 'look better' by exposing that body shape that made me uncomfortable. With lolita, I can dress femininely and not be whistled or jeered at as much. It's a great relief, even if lolitas still get other kinds of unwanted attention. At least it's about my clothes and not about my body.<br />
<br />
<b><u>3. Comfort and confidence:</u></b> Since the clothes reflect my tastes and make me feel safer, I feel more comfortable and confident wearing them outside than other kinds of feminine clothes. While lolita is not necessarily comfortable to wear, I feel covered and cute--more than what I can say about fast fashion.<br />
<br />
<b><u>4. Prints are really interesting and fun to work with:</u></b> Prior to wearing lolita I already liked the challenge and creativity that come with themed outfits, so the fashion fed into that tendency of mine.<br />
<b><u><br /></u></b>
<b><u>5. Originally a form of protest:</u></b> I really respect the Japanese young women that spearheaded resistance to stereotypes and expectations of femininity in their country. I think, in a sense, it is possible to also use lolita as a protest to the unfair expectations of what women 'should' look like in the West--even if our own pressures are less strict than in Asia.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
---</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Why do you wear lolita? Do you just like the style or does it have more significance to you than simple clothing? Feel free to share in the comments ^^</div>

While I agree that the golden time for AP's sweet style was 2008-2012, I like AP's designs from around 2011-2014 the best. I have not really been a fan of the last two year's worth of releases, though. Where do you stand? Do you like AP, or do you have another preferred brand? How are their releases doing? Tell me all about it in the comments below :)<br />

This is Keiko hoping you are doing well.<br />
<br />
This week's topic is wardrobe turnover -the rate at which things come into my wardrobe and then leave it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HEtAHsZAKC0/WI5-UHve5hI/AAAAAAAABWc/BRybXkTZvZc4TPvVZ0qX8rLuKnVPK-DMACLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mnt84uzBBB1qz4rgp.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-HEtAHsZAKC0/WI5-UHve5hI/AAAAAAAABWc/BRybXkTZvZc4TPvVZ0qX8rLuKnVPK-DMACLcB/s1600/tumblr_inline_mnt84uzBBB1qz4rgp.gif" /></a></div>
I used to have a moderate wardrobe turnover when I first started out in lolita. I was trying to find myself and my style. I thought I wanted to be a 'bittersweet', creepy cute lolita at first, so I bought several prints in black colorways. I also wanted to do OTT sweet, so I looked for accessories in bulk to be able to pull it off before I realized it wasn't really my cup of tea. I would often impulse buy as well, to then decide I didn't like something and sell it later on.<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qd7UwIeRqN8/WI58eCbXSWI/AAAAAAAABWE/6v8BPYnMbVYxN-bP2RpZ5m_3opE-EMA8gCLcB/s1600/20150321_200350.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qd7UwIeRqN8/WI58eCbXSWI/AAAAAAAABWE/6v8BPYnMbVYxN-bP2RpZ5m_3opE-EMA8gCLcB/s400/20150321_200350.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Milky Planet was one of several black x pastel prints I wanted</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Now that I've settled down into a style I like and I have acquired most of the dresses on my wishlist, I don't really sell much. About a year ago I started buying items for keeps when I was sure I wanted them and they went well with other things in my wardrobe. Additionally, since the lolita market has dramatically slowed down, I don't feel as safe buying to sell since I would make a net loss and it would take a long time to sell. I'm not a big risk taker, so I prefer not to dabble too much into quick turnovers if I can help it. I don't have specialty or themed events I attend that need special outfits anyway, so I have little incentive to buy, wear, and immediately sell.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br /></div>
<div>
Today marks the first month doing the 52 week lolita challenge. Today's topic is about what's my favorite head accessory and the answer is super simple: berets!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P-SkuwdljgM/WHW7TyIBvMI/AAAAAAAABN0/_Aqrvpy43Tg_7wx1BRXKv4RlzBFXSeAEgCLcB/s1600/20141115_185848.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P-SkuwdljgM/WHW7TyIBvMI/AAAAAAAABN0/_Aqrvpy43Tg_7wx1BRXKv4RlzBFXSeAEgCLcB/s320/20141115_185848.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I love the fact that berets can be so versatile and adorned with different things to dress them up or down. I feel like I need more berets in my collection. I particularly love the Baby, The Stars Shine Bright and Alice and the Pirates berets the best. They are understated, cute, and super comfortable!</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kuLtT5iezTQ/WHW_KypQ1yI/AAAAAAAABOA/kDc2M8lMm_cu_S4ofkrkK785PQlQARPJgCLcB/s1600/IMG_0097.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-kuLtT5iezTQ/WHW_KypQ1yI/AAAAAAAABOA/kDc2M8lMm_cu_S4ofkrkK785PQlQARPJgCLcB/s400/IMG_0097.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My beret collection as of last year</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Usually I'll combine a beret with a brooch, a headbow, or a cute clip. I don't like tying the ribbon on the princess drop beret from BTSSB, since I find it uncomfortable, but otherwise it's probably my favorite and most used one out of the seven.</div>

<br />
This is Keiko on week three of the 52 week lolita challenge! Today's topic is talking about my lifestyle as a lolita. Honestly, I'm not a lifestyle lolita by any means, but I'll give you some details about my fashion bubble anyway~<br />
<br />
Let's start~!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vRqaA9ZSuLA/WHW3RHDdp-I/AAAAAAAABNk/6YTYocgMQpQPKWDBxcNGHUpNcO6Csz3FQCLcB/s1600/tumblr_ln6936l0TW1qdlkyg.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vRqaA9ZSuLA/WHW3RHDdp-I/AAAAAAAABNk/6YTYocgMQpQPKWDBxcNGHUpNcO6Csz3FQCLcB/s1600/tumblr_ln6936l0TW1qdlkyg.gif" /></a></div>
I used to wear to class and work sometimes. Particularly when the dresses were comfortable and toned down. I was blessed to have pretty flexible work as a Spanish tutor at school and what I wore wasn't a big issues, so sometimes I'd dress up for the whole day and see my students and classmates while in frills.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
I also used wear to go out and do stuff with friends. I do this a lot less often now that I graduated and live further away from my roommates and my friends, I have less occasion to doll up and go out. Nowadays, I wear lolita mostly to meetups, though I still dress up to go out alone occasionally.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9kAFkA1ESNE/WHW2GkKHzoI/AAAAAAAABNY/rywnUECqqEkSRoc7Qms7IybwnEP3OuaGwCLcB/s1600/20160310_100257.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9kAFkA1ESNE/WHW2GkKHzoI/AAAAAAAABNY/rywnUECqqEkSRoc7Qms7IybwnEP3OuaGwCLcB/s400/20160310_100257.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Sneaking a picture in the internship office</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
My shared room is my little corner of the world. It has stickers, posters, cute business cards, drawings, and plushies everywhere. Nowadays I also like to put together outfits on the mannequin every once in a while and practice coordinating and taking pictures. I really enjoy having a space that follows lolita aesthetics and kawaii culture in some form, since it makes me feel inspired to keep doing what I love.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P2Hqt1CYi6I/WHW2f6UoDII/AAAAAAAABNc/kaAi7qZh-TErzxngfyiB-KjhMA5ev1moQCLcB/s1600/DSCN0044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-P2Hqt1CYi6I/WHW2f6UoDII/AAAAAAAABNc/kaAi7qZh-TErzxngfyiB-KjhMA5ev1moQCLcB/s400/DSCN0044.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
In terms of pastimes, I honestly don't really have lolita-like hobbies, but I do draw, write, and bake occasionally. Playing horror and otome games are a passion of mine, and I enjoy watching horror movies and animated films. I used to be into manga and anime, but I have not read or watched anything big recently. I want to get back into it, though.<br />

What's your life as a lolita like? Are you a lifestyler or do you only wear it on special occasions? Do you have lolita-like hobbies, or is it just a fashion for you?<br />

Hey, everyone!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Keiko here with this year's wardrobe post~</div>
<br />
This year, I did less purchasing than the last few ones. I focused a bit more on rounding out my wardrobe rather than purchasing main pieces. It helped a lot that my favorite brand, Angelic Pretty, didn't really release anything that caught my eye --the few main pieces I got were old AP releases or Alice and The Pirates ones. Without further ado, let's get to the meat of it!<br />

<h3>
Conclusion</h3>
My wardrobe has definitely grown this year. I've bought some neutral, comfortable shoes, some nice matchable purses, and a handful of beautiful main pieces. I'm pretty satisfied with how it has been developing so far. I only have a couple dream pieces left on my wishlist, and some minor gaps I need to fill in my closet (even if matching pinks is suuuper hard!).<br />
