30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Thirty: Concluding Comments

Hello everybody!

It's Keiko here with the LAST day of the 30-day Lolita challenge~!

For our last prompt, I will include a picture of myself taken today and 3 good things that happened over the last 30 days.

Let's Start~!

First, let's show you my face:

Now that that is out of the way, we can proceed to talk about three cool things that went down over this past month:
1. I got one of my wish list items
2. I decorated my own room for the first time in a good while
3. My fiancé told me he got his transfer approved so we can live close to our friends after I graduate!

Yaaaay~!

I also got to organize my wardrobe a bit, and will be selling some things to help pay for the wedding, but that's another story...

I'm super excited for what awaits me this coming year, and I hope I can keep posting with some sort of regularity, as I suspect that my blogging capabilities will be curtailed by working two jobs and being a full-time student.... Either way, it's been an awesome ride so far and I hope you peeps stick around for some more goofy blog posts in the future!

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Nine: A picture of a lolita you would love to meet for real

Hey there~

Keiko here with the second to last installment of the 30-day lolita challenge~

The prompt this time is to post a picture of a lolita I'd love to meet in real life, and it was a tough choice. While I admire many lolitas, I wouldn't know what to do if I met them because I feel like I would be very shy. I'd probably just be creepy and look anxious from afar, lol.

If I had to pick one lolita, it would probably be either Milkyfawn, Vysanthe and Technotropism, or Megan Russell, all for different reasons.

I'd like to meet with Milkyfawn just because she was one of the people who first inspired me to plunge into lolita, and because my style is influenced by hers when she was into the fashion.

I'd love to run into Vysanthe and ask her and Technotropism all about how they came into the lolita community and why they chose to do films. I am interested in their creative process and I feel like I would learn a lot about distilling the essence of the lolita community from them.

Lastly, it would be really cool to have a conversation with Megan Russell about lolita fashion from an anthropological perspective. I have written a couple of papers on lolita and the values of the community for college, so I would love to have a chance to interview her.

This is not to say that these are the only lolitas I want to see face-to-face. There are many interesting individuals I have met online through trading and selling that I would love to meet up with in real life and share a cup of tea. The lolita community is brimming with talent and personality, and I really wish that was more highlighted in its public image.

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Eight: A picture of the perfect lolita location

Hey there!
Keiko here~

Today marks 4 weeks since the start of the 30-day Lolita Challenge! Whooooo! A whole month! Almost done! For today's prompt, I will be talking about a place I consider to be a perfect lolita location.

I went to this place about three years ago around Christmas time, and it was exquisitely ornate. The main garden of this hotel was decorated with a Japanese garden theme. The flowers were imported and natural. They were taken care of by experts and looked radiant the day I went.

The funny thing is, this hotel changes its display every so often, and each is as inventive and opulent as the last. Can you guess which it is?

It is the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Specifically the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.

I have heard that Las Vegas lolitas do meets there on occasion, and must admit I am inordinately jealous. Can you imagine coordinating in accordance to the garden's theme? The displays themselves are so beautiful they would be an amazing backdrop for any picture!

I look forward to visiting again and taking more pictures of whatever beautiful work of art is up for perusing --whether I wear lolita or not.

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Seven: One song that fits your favorite lolita style

Hello everybody!

Keiko here~

It's almost been four weeks since starting the challenge. As we're slowly coming to an end, today's prompt sets up the stage for showcasing some more lolita music. This time I get to pick a song that fits my favorite lolita style --but I love many styles!

Because I primarily focus on sweet, however, I'll start there.

When I'm getting ready to wear sweet lolita, I usually listen to Perfume songs. Fushizen na Girl, Linear Motor Girl, and Spring of Life evoke a sweet but mature vibe, while Natural Ni Koishite is all about casual lolita for me.

When I want to go a bit more over the top, I listen to Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Sungoi Aura is specially good for dressing in colorful outfits. Otherwise, I go for Candy Candy, Kira Kira Killer, and Tsukematsukeru.

For gothic lolita, I usually just listen to Remle Rose no Majou for a more serious mood, or things like Tenebrous Brothers Carnival Act 1 and Act 2  if the mood is more lighthearted.

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Six: Your Facebook profile picture

Today's challenge is short and sweet: posting my Facebook profile picture! I'll gladly share :)

These are my then-boyfriend, now-fiancee, and I three years ago. I changed the picture when he proposed to me, and now we have matching profile pics!

Before this picture, I had some art that my friend SJ drew for me. She's super talented!

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Five: Your favorite lolita themed artwork

Hello everybody!

This is Keiko and I hope you are feeling up for some art appreciation today because day twenty five's prompt is meant to showcase some lolita-themed art.

I feel like there is an astounding amount of talented people in the lolita community. There are artisans, creative writers, artists, musicians, cinematographers-- you name it, we have it!

I mentioned before that I really liked Lemontree11's art, and I stand by that whole-heartedly. It is very light and whimsical! Imai Kira's postcards are also quite beautiful and ornate. I like hanging them up and admiring them from time to time. But I think it's time I introduce a different artist: Indifferentsocks

AKA the artist behind the Snobby Lolitas portraits

 I loved her style and sassy flavor text the moment I saw it, and I just -had- to commission her. She opens her tumblr up for commissions often, so you can email her with a request. Once she accepts the request, you can send her a picture of the coordinate you want her to draw and a punny catchphrase if you'd like (I did mine). Then she gets back to you with a preliminary sketch. Once you approve it, she colors it and submits it to you for one final round of approval. As of this post, she's open for commissions. Check out her tumblr here. The price of a portrait will depend on the complexity of the print, but she does some really detailed work!

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Four: A picture of you from a meet

Hey there, everybody!

It's-a me, Keiko!

Today is day 24 and today's challenge is to post a picture from a meet-up.

Now, I have only attended three meetups in total, all out of state. Fortunately, I was able to get some pictures from one of them from the lovely D.C. area DC Metro Lolitas community. They were nice enough to let me into their group and invite me to a couple of meet ups during my short stint in the capital. These were my first three formal meets ever, and I was quite excited to say the least.

I managed to attend to a swap meet first, then a lolita pajama party, and lastly a Gothic Lolita trip to see Crimson Peak, which is where this picture came from. Shardell took them and was gracious enough to share them with the group ^^

It was a super fun experience and we liked the movie quite a bit. The cinematography was beautiful, and the storyline was interesting as well. Guillermo del Toro strikes again!

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty Three: A picture of your handwriting

Hello everyone,

Keiko here~

Today is day 23 of our challenge and the objective is to show you my handwriting.

It is nothing special, really. I don't have particularly cute handwriting --or even neat handwriting! My fiance actually has prettier handwriting than me. Still, I can improve it when I want to, but it's just too much woooork~

Here is a picture of a list I was making earlier this week for our wedding planning:

I was in a hurry so it's a bit jumbled, but it's a picture of what it looks like when I'm taking notes. I wrote cursive for a long time when I was younger and then moved to print writing in high school. My current handwriting has a bit of both, I guess, especially when I'm writing really quickly.

I recently moved back to my campus for my last semester of college, so I don't have a ton of space, but I went all out this year and decorated as best I could.

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty one: Your favorite fictional lolita

Who Is Your Favorite Fictional Lolita?

It is difficult to come across lolitas in Western media. Honestly, it's hard to come across lolitas in media, period. So I have decided to focus a bit more on the lolita-geared content readily available to me, and must say that my favorite fictional lolita at the moment is Yuri from Mister Rococo. I love her determination, and I frankly find the whole short quite entertaining.

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Twenty: A picture of a lolita friend.

Welcome to day twenty of the thirty day lolita challenge!

Today, the order of the day is to present you with a picture of one of my lolita friends. So let's get started!

The power of friendship and stuff!

The city I live in is relatively small, with about 80000 people or so. The largest city close by, which holds the closest comm, is about 3 hours away from me. As a result, I was a lone lolita for a while. Over that time, I talked a lot to my friends about lolita fashion and how I was getting into it. And it just so happened that, for my friend SJ's bridal shower/bachelorette party, we had to take a drive down to the city-- providing the perfect platform of time to talk about the fashion.

Her curiosity was piqued by the descriptions of the dresses and, once we arrived, I showed her some funny videos from Deerstalker Pictures and Lovely Lor's channels. It hyped us both up and we agreed to hang out and talk about it more later.

A few months later she got her first OP and now she's into classic lolita, with a focus on more casual, wearable pieces, old school, and vintage aesthetic. She likes prints with books and appreciates lace detailing.

Having a lolita friend in town is nice because you get to share the joy of the fashion in person. We go out to have tea or get together to watch movies or just talk about the community and life in general. It's quite fun!

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Nineteen: What’s in your make-up bag?

It's-a me, Keiko!

Today classes start at my college, but hopefully I'll be able to keep posting until the end of the challenge regularly. I'll do my best!

Today's challenge revolves around make up. I have a lot of makeup in different containers, but I'll show you a picture of what I usually carry around with me when I wear lolita.

What's in Your Makeup Bag?

The bag is super cool! I got it as a present from a friend I met during my semester in Washington. She said that once she saw it, it immediately reminded her of me (lol).

The contents of the bag, from left to right, are as follows:

1. BB Cream: It helps moisturize the skin while covering imperfections

2. My favorite lip gloss: It smells like vanilla!

3. Mascara: This one is getting old and I should probably replace it soon...

4. Black eyeliner: For night-time, or more elaborate makeup

5. Brown eyeliner: For simpler, everyday looks 

6. White soft eye pencil: It helps make your eyes look bigger.

7. Concealer: For those pesky blemishes

8. Blush: So I don't look like a ghost as much as usual

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Eighteen: A picture of your favorite lolita style

Hey everybody~

Keiko here~

Today is day 18 of the 30 days lolita challenge and the prompt for today covers my favorite lolita style.

I love sweet lolita to pieces because I love food prints, but I don't feel comfortable being a pastel rainbow-- at least within lolita. Therefore, I tend to oscillate a between styles while keeping my sweeter roots. I wear sweet prints in traditionally classical color combos and dress in a sweeter gothic.

If you recall the 10 people who inspire you prompt, I am greatly influenced stylistically by Milkyfawn and Starrylightbox, who are generally sweeter with tinges of classic, Parfait Doll and Lace a La Mode, which are a mix of classic and sweet, and Marie Dauphine and Miss Lillith, who dress more gothic. As a result, I guess you could say that I fall in the more toned-down sweet categories, with darker or muted colors. My wardrobe is composed of about 50% black prints, 25% brown prints, 24% ivory, 1% other colors. Hopefully I'll have a wardrobe post ready in time to illustrate that graphically ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ

I'd say I take inspiration particularly from a this Milkyfawn coordinate you can find on her blog:

This and her Petite Patisserie coordinates seem casual and comfortable, yet sweet at the same time. I have owned both dresses in different cuts and colors and can attest to their versatility and comfiness levels, so I shoot for them as a standard so I can dress in lolita while going about my daily life as well.

30 Day Lolita Challenge - Day Seventeen: What do you want more than anything right now?

Today's the day we finally get back on track with all the prompts! Whoo! Day 17 brings the question "what do you want more than anything right now?". Honestly, it's not that hard to answer this prompt because I feel like the one thing I need to solve the other stuff in my life and lolita life is

CASH MONEYYYY

I want to buy stuff for coordinates, stuff for the wedding, be ready to move after graduating, and many other stuff. Having money would probably solve most of the problems hahahaha /cries
